General Overview  

足彩app哪个是正规的 Quantitative Skills Center (QSC) supports students in developing confidence, competence, and independence in quantitative reasoning. Peer Facilitators are embedded in course classrooms, where they support student learning in collaboration with faculty. 

Peer Facilitators guide students in developing problem-solving strategies, engaging with course material, and building effective approaches to learning quantitative subjects. 足彩app哪个是正规的y work with a faculty instructor to provide a group-centered, holistic learning experience for students. Peer Facilitators do not reteach course content or act as graders.

Learning & Educational Benefits  

This role provides hands-on experience in teaching and learning within a college classroom. Peer Facilitators develop skills in: 

  • Facilitating collaborative and student-centered learning 
  • Communicating complex ideas clearly and effectively

Typical Duties and Responsibilities  

QSC Peer Facilitators report to the Assistant Director of the QSC and work closely with other Learning Commons staff. Peer facilitators are expected to:  

  • Support student learning during class sessions under faculty guidance 
  • Facilitate small-group discussions and assist students with course concepts 
  • Encourage active learning, problem-solving, and effective study strategies 
  • Build rapport with students and contribute to an inclusive classroom environment 
  • Attend and participate in regular staff development meetings (PF Pedagogy) 
  • Complete training activities (e.g., shadowing, reflection, skill development) 
  • Collaborate with faculty on course goals and student learning needs 
  • Mentor and support new Peer Facilitators as appropriate 
  • Model professional behavior and effective peer facilitation practices 

Complete assigned projects and other duties as needed 

Minimum Qualifications

Strong interest in quantitative content and passion for mentoring others 

  • Currently enrolled student at UW Bothell in good academic?standing.  
  • Must have completed at least the introductory courses for the content you would like to peer facilitate  
  • If interested in being a Peer Facilitator for Biology, you must have completed at least Bio I, Bio II, and Bio III 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse students, coworkers, supervisors and others in a friendly, courteous manner 
  • Capacity to receive, reflect on, and incorporate feedback for professional development 
  • Able to commit for at least one academic year 
  • Attend mandatory staff and training meetings scheduled on a quarterly basis 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel 
Desi Qualifications 
  • Experience with tutoring, mentoring, or peer education 
  • Comfort with public speaking or facilitating group discussions 
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently

  • Welcome and assist students; provide guidance on accessing Learning Commons services 
  • Manage the electronic tutoring queue and support student flow 
  • Respond to inquiries about tutoring, workshops, and resources 
  • Schedule tutoring sessions and assist with appointment logistics 
  • Coordinate tutor schedules for events, trainings, and meetings 
  • Manage equipment and textbook check-out/check-in systems 
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and update tracking systems 
  • Monitor and respond to QSC communications  
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming commons environment 
  • Complete administrative tasks as needed and attend required trainings and meetings

Peer Tutors at the University of Washington Bothell Quantitative Skills Center (QSC) collaborate with students to strengthen their quantitative reasoning across disciplines. Tutors support students in developing problem-solving strategies, conceptual understanding, and confidence in working with quantitative material. 

Tutoring shifts take place in person and may include individual or small group support. Rather than simply providing answers, tutors engage students in active learning using collaborative, process-based approaches that emphasize reasoning, interpretation, and application of quantitative concepts. 

Tutors assist with a range of work, including coursework, data analysis, quantitative software, and projects that involve interpreting and communicating quantitative information. 足彩app哪个是正规的y work with students from diverse academic, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.

Peer Writing Tutors at UW Bothell’s Learning Commons and Writing and Communication Center (WaCC) collaborate with students to support their development as writers and communicators across disciplines and contexts. Tutors facilitate one-on-one sessions and lead group workshops in person, virtually, or asynchronously. 

Rather than editing papers, tutors engage students in active learning using collaborative, process-based, and student-centered approaches grounded in writing center theory. 足彩app哪个是正规的y help students build strategies, rhetorical awareness, confidence, and independence in their writing and communication practices. 

Tutors support a wide range of projects, including academic, creative, and multimodal work, as well as presentations, and work with students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds. 

In addition to tutoring, tutors contribute to outreach, programming, and campus engagement, including classroom visits, workshops, and initiatives that promote WaCC services and an inclusive campus writing culture.
