Miriam Liberman

Pharmacist Resident at Providence Health Plan

Miriam Liberman graduated from UW Bothell in Summer 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.

Tell us more about what you’re doing currently.

Graduated from UW School of Pharmacy June 2025. Spent 4 years in this program completing didactic education, clinical rotations, and doing various work in between such as community service opportunities in healthcare through various pharmacy organizations, [along with] clinical research with UW Medicine and UW Pharmacy, as well as educational research through UW Pharmacy.

My current position as a pharmacist resident required me to organize my 4th year clinical rotations in a way that aligned with the career path trajectory I was interested in, as well as focusing on topics I was less knowledgeable in to expand my scope. I had to apply for residency programs through the American Society of Healthsystems Pharmacy and take part in 2 rounds of interviews to be matched into this position. Pharmacy residency typically goes through a matching system similar to medical programs. It is a lot of work on updating and maintaining a CV, writing letters of intent, and honing in on knowledge and interview skills. It is definitely a lot of work to get there, but a lot of reward that comes with it. This additional training I am in now allows me to acquire more certifications and keep up to date on my license.

What resources did you find most helpful when it came to career or graduate/professional school exploring, preparing, and applying?

I started off as a pharmacy assistant when I was in undergrad. Being open to exploring job opportunities while in school helps to open you to a network of people that are interested in seeing your development. Utilize the network you build and ask questions to your employer about their career path.

What was your favorite thing about being a UW Bothell Husky?

I loved the smaller class sizes, office hours, and easy accessibility to professors and other resources to guide my education.

If you could go back to your first day at UWB, what advice would you give yourself?

You will get a lot of people telling you different ways to go about a certain path. Question everything. Do your own research. Verify information for yourself.

Thank you, Miriam!

We appreciate you taking time from your busy schedule to share a bit of your story and advice to future Husky Pharmacists!
