Diana Odland Neal, PhD, RN, PHN, Lecturer

Lecturer
Dr. Diana Neal is a Part-time Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Health Studies (SNHS) at the University of Washington–Bothell. She has served as lead for the Education Certificate Subcommittee of the Nursing Curriculum Committee and has held professional development education coordinator roles at Children’s Hospital and faculty appointments at St. Catherine University and St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Dr. Neal served as Director of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Nursing Consortium between St. Olaf College and Gustavus Adolphus College and as Chair of the Nursing Department at St. Olaf College where she led nursing program approval and accreditation in 2015. Her clinical expertise includes pediatric medical–surgical nursing and neonatal intensive care, with experience as a staff nurse, transport nurse, and neonatal nurse educator. She practiced in the Intensive Infant Care Center (ICC) at Children’s Hospital Minnesota until 2021, when she relocated to Washington. Her professional interests include nursing education, holistic pediatric care, and global health; and has served as a field nurse in Kenya and as a visiting lecturer at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College in Tanzania, East Africa.
Scholarship
Dr. Neal is a member of the Minnesota Consortium for Nursing Education Research (MCNER), which conducted a pilot and full-scale study titled Enhancing Clinical Reasoning: Teaching Thinking Through Debriefing. This work was supported by competitive funding, including a St. Olaf College Faculty Development Grant, the Debra L. Spunt Grant from the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), and the Sigma 足彩app哪个是正规的ta Tau Chi-at-Large Chapter Scholarship Award. Findings were disseminated through regional, national, and international presentations and peer-reviewed publications. Her scholarly interests include nursing education strategies, developmental care for preterm infants in the NICU, and complementary therapies. She also received a scholarship through the Minnesota Holistic Nurses Association (MHNA) and the SNHS Behavioral Health Faculty Development Award at UW-Bothell.
