{"id":2646,"date":"2016-05-25T09:19:44","date_gmt":"2016-05-25T09:19:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/?p=2646"},"modified":"2023-06-08T19:53:16","modified_gmt":"2023-06-08T19:53:16","slug":"community-partners-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/news\/2016\/05\/25\/community-partners-2","title":{"rendered":"Community partners celebrated as co-educators"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n      <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/community-partners.jpg\" alt=\"community partners\" class=\"wp-image-26853\"><\/figure>\n\n          <p>As part of their school work, University of Washington Bothell students have been building a solar-powered cooler for a farm in Woodinville, helping the city of Bothell study transit options, sharing a classroom at the Monroe Correctional Center with inmates and mentoring high school students in the Bothell Youth Court.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/dsc-0713.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26854\"><\/figure>\n\n<p>And that&rsquo;s just a small fraction of their community engagement projects. <a href=\"\/connected-learning\/celr\/partner-resources\/community-organizations\">足彩app哪个是正规的 many community partners<\/a> were honored as co-educators May 19 at a recognition celebration led by Kara Adams (above, left) who heads the Office of Community-Based Learning and Research.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nAdams applauded the partners and handed out citations and gift water bottles to their representatives.<br \/>\nSpecial recognition went to partners of five years or more: 21 Acres, Center for Human Services, City of Bothell, Edmonds School District, Friends of North Creek Forest, Northshore Community Schools, Northshore School District, Northshore Senior Center and Woodmoor Elementary. Photo: Kara Adams, left, with lecturer Gary Carpenters and students Jasmine Giles and Anastasia Evangelista who participate in the University Beyond Bars program.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/dsc-0808.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26855\"><\/figure>\n\n<p>Susan Jeffords, vice chancellor for academic affairs, told the audience at the North Creek Events Center that community engagement is part of the identity of UW Bothell, part of what makes the University special.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nJeffords (left) says that can be seen in the success of Pell grant students, who come from low-income families and typically struggle at most institutions.
