Faculty and staff at the University of Washington Bothell devote themselves to academic inquiry in a multitude of ways. Each year in the fall, the University of Washington Bothell and Cascadia College Campus Library<\/a> showcases the results of their work in a display open to all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt’s always exciting to put together the Faculty & Staff Publications Display each year,\u201d said Hannah Mendro, materials processing lead. \u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity for library staff to get an update on what researchers on our campus have been working on over the past year and to tap into some of the current discourses in various subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrom popular and timely articles to in-depth scientific papers and poetry,\u201d she said, \u201cwe can see where members of our campus are involved in ongoing conversations with various communities \u2014 academic, non-academic and artistic alike.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Common to all is the theme of inquiry that advances the limits of knowledge production in a way that is accessible to all learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both Dr. Stephen Jones, associate professor in the School of Business, and Dr. Daniel Cavanaugh, assistant teaching professor in the School of Nursing & Health Studies, focus on ways to evolve interpersonal development. Jones co-authored \u201cThings Are Not Always What 足彩app哪个是正规的y Seem: 足彩app哪个是正规的 Origins and Evolution of Intragroup Conflict,\u201d an article that reevaluates the way scholars have historically conceptualized and measured intragroup conflict at the team level. Cavanaugh published \u201cDeveloping and Initially Validating the Youth Mental Health Literacy Scale for Ages 11-14\u201d both to destigmatize views of mental illness and to encourage youth in crisis to seek help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A book co-authored by Dr. Antony Smith, assistant professor in the School of Educational Studies, considers a new way to teach children to read: through a mathematical 足彩app哪个是正规的. \u201cMathematizing Children\u2019s Literature: Sparking Connections, Joy and Wonder through Read-Alouds and Discussion\u201d asks the question, \u201cHow might mathematizing children’s literature give learners space to ask their own questions and make connections between stories, their lives and the world around them?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Salwa A-Noori, associate professor in the School of STEM, similarly considers new ways of teaching. Co-author of \u201cAn Active Learning Workshop to Teach Active Learning Strategies,\u201d she engaged a diverse pool of postdoctoral scholars at the University of Washington and affiliate institutions in a closely mentored apprenticeship to learn how to teach scientifically with inclusive, demonstrably effective, student-centered pedagogies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One publication featured in this year\u2019s display crosses international borders. In \u201cVehicles of Decolonization: Public Transit in the Palestinian West Bank (Critical Race, Indigeneity, and Relationality),\u201d Dr. Maryam Griffin, assistant professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences, published her results from a year of fieldwork. Through the book, she demonstrates that the politics of mobility are shaped by ongoing settler colonialism and Indigenous struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWithin the classroom space, the main focus tends to be teaching and learning, as it should be,\u201d said Mendro. \u201cBut since members of both campuses are also working on their own scholarship, the display allows us to showcase some of that work for our community to see the breadth and depth of research occurring at UW Bothell and Cascadia College \u2014 some also conducted in collaboration with students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
