Alum Gracelynn Scott (\u201915, Media & Communication Studies<\/a>) describes the last nine months as \u201cnothing short of a roller coaster ride.\u201d Flash back to November 12, 2015, Gracelynn was six weeks into her new role as Member Relations Coordinator at KPLU when she learned that the radio station was being sold, and she\u2019d need to look for a new job. Employees were devastated, but in December they were told if they raised $7 million by June 30, they could submit a competing bid to buy the station themselves. This announcement lit a fire, unleashing a windfall of community support. By the end of May, the nonprofit formed to save KPLU, Friends of 88.5 FM<\/a>, had reached their goal of $7 million in under six months, or 136 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tGracelynn wore many hats during the campaign, processing donations, organizing fundraising events, and supporting the development team. Beyond these efforts, Gracelynn coordinates membership services, including KPLU\u2019s studio performance sessions which host various jazz artists from Emmy nominees to School of Jazz students. Of her work Gracelynn says, \u201cI have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know people who love KPLU and love what we do. I have been able to meet some amazing people and watched our members interact with one another in such fun ways.
