Titled \u201cGender and Resistance,\u201d participants in the salon discussed their books related to this theme. Shayne discussed her newest book, an open-access collection called <i><a href=\"https:\/\/uw.pressbooks.pub\/happy50thws\/\" title=\"https:\/\/uw.pressbooks.pub\/happy50thws\/ \">Persistence is Resistance: Celebrating 50 Years of Gender, Women &amp; Sexuality Studies<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to describing their books, panelists dialogued about: how gender theory influenced their book; what intersections informed the book; the place of feminist praxis in the project; methodological decisions, particularly as related to feminist sociology; practices that helped them finish the book (Shayne said her sabbatical!); and the audiences for whom they wrote. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IAS faculty member <a href=\"\/ias\/faculty-and-staff\/julie-shayne\" title=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/ias\/faculty-and-staff\/julie-shayne\">Julie Shayne<\/a> participated in a book salon at the Sociologists for Women in Society winter meeting (virtual).
