Mention why your organization matters, what makes it special, and why readers should intern there.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe the role &#8211; Tell potential interns how they will be contributing to your organization \u2013 projects they\u2019ll work on, teams they\u2019ll be a part of, tasks they\u2019ll be handling, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>List requirements &#8211; What skills, characteristics, and interests would make a successful intern? Mention whether they\u2019re required or just desired.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Application instructions &#8211; What do applicants need to submit, how, and by when?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compensation &#8211; How much will interns be paid?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Section on expected learning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Describe what interns will learn:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Though interns are eager to make a contribution to your organization, they\u2019re also curious as to what they\u2019ll gain from the experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Including a learning section helps interns know you are committed to their learning and success.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sample section titles:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What you will learn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interns will develop skills in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will gain experience in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How you will benefit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Desired learning prompt<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ask interns to reflect:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask interns to include a few ideas about what they\u2019d like to learn in their cover letter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This helps interns develop a habit of reflection and also helps ensure a good match.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Logistical expectations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Be clear about:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Internship start and end date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expected hours per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Location of internship site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Though similar in many ways to job descriptions, internship position descriptions have unique attributes that help establish a focus on intern learning and ensure that intern and employer have shared expectations.
