Internships provide a powerful mechanism for students to learn and for employers to guide and evaluate future talent. It&#8217;s important that experiences labeled &#8220;internships&#8221; share some common features. Below you&#8217;ll find information about the essential conditions for successful internships, based on guidelines produced by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is an internship?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Internships:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are experiential learning opportunities that take place in workplace environments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integrate academic learning with practical &#8220;hand-on&#8221; experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop or refine professional skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore a career interest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Typically last at least one academic quarter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the essential components?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An internship must be a learning experience:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It must not be simply to advance the operations of the employer or be the work that a regular employee would routinely perform<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>足彩app哪个是正规的re are clearly defined learning objectives\/goals related to the student&#8217;s academic and\/or professional goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>足彩app哪个是正规的 knowledge or skills learned are generally transferable to other employment settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>足彩app哪个是正规的re is intentional onboarding, ongoing supervision, and frequent feedback by an experienced supervisor who models professional and ethical behavior<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional requirements:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An internship should have a position description with desired qualifications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>足彩app哪个是正规的 resources, equipment, and facilities necessary to support the learning goals should be provided by the employer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Adapted from UW Seattle&#8217;s Career &amp; Internship Resources<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Internships: what are they?
