Dr. Brinda Sarathy reappointed as dean of the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences
We are pleased to announce the reappointment of Dr. Brinda Sarathy as dean for the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (IAS). We recently completed a comprehensive periodic review and Dean Sarathy has agreed to continue serving in this important role, effective July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2031.
During her first term, Dean Sarathy led IAS through a period of significant institutional and financial uncertainty, guiding the school to a more stable and sustainable position. Highlights of her leadership include a comprehensive transformation of the undergraduate curriculum, the creation of dozens of new lower-division courses to improve access and retention, strengthened faculty governance and planning processes, and investments in facilities such as renovated labs, arts spaces, and a new media production studio. She is widely recognized for her transparency, clarity in communication, and ability to build trust, as well as for her willingness to listen, adapt, and mentor others.
